Land Remediation Tax Relief – Value Engineering at its Simplest – an article in Brownfield Land Report (Released for MIPIM)

This article builds on our previous draft in Brownfield Briefing a couple of months ago concerning the review of Land Remediation Tax Relief legislation and the enactment of some definitive changes come this Spring Budget. Published in the Brownfield Land Report, a once a year special edition publication by Brownfield Briefing and prepared in time for MIPIM, we focus on the financial incentives that the tax relief can provide in the ensuing credit crunch.

We build on our previous views on what the changes could mean for ‘Joe Developer’ thereby highlighting some of the key issues that were not so apparent previously by adding a financial slant to the key messages. We once again introduce the Long Term Derelict Land and Japanese Knotweed amendments amongst others and provide financial examples of the alternative savings on offer from different types of remediation solution. We also pass comment on the practicalities of using the current and amended conditions noting the pros and cons of the system with the aim of informing the reader as to robustness of the claim process.
